Summer Headphones

Looking over my options for next steps is encouraging. I can look to all the great companies in Cleveland to see where I can make my mark, or I can go at it alone. I’ve decided to try the freelance path since it’s something I’ve always wanted to do.

My wife and I (and our daughter Summer and dog Maddox) lived in Chicago. We had been there for about five years working at various places. I moved there to work at Method Studios and work on TV commercials. It was a lot of fun but I had to make a jump to get my hands on different projects. I went to Outcome Health to get a chance to creative direct shows and design their look.

We decided to move a little closer to home, back to Ohio, right outside of Cleveland. The move was made easier with my Chicago job letting me work remotely. Eventually it ran its course and my job let me go. I was in a strange place where I felt compelled to take the leap to freelance. After a lot of discussion, I did.

I started reaching out to other freelancers and companies and the city surprised me. Even with cold emails, people were so warm and welcoming. Almost every person asked me to a coffee or lunch. It was just overwhelming and I knew immediately that I made the right choice.

I’ve been working with companies and partnering with other freelancers all over the city. It’s been successful and exciting and everything that I’ve been waiting for. This is the type of work and collaboration that I’ve always wanted to do. I’m excited to see what’s next.
